On July 19, 2022, in Moscow, a 7-year-old boy (ranked among the best players in the world, under age 9) squared off in a chess match – against a robot.The game progressed as every chess game does. The boy and the robot took turns moving their pieces around the chessboard.However, at one point the young boy responded too quickly for the robot’s liking! Almost instantly, the robot clamped down on the boy’s finger and would not let go!

Several adults intervened to assist, but not before the finger was broken! On a positive note, the boy was able to return to the competition, the following day. What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

That said, while you’re here, we’ve got a new role. Our client is a boutique law firm, specializing in estate planning & litigation, business law services, and family law. They are known for their tailored approach to advising and representing clients in their business and family wealth transition planning, including representation in litigation.

POSITION:    ESTATE LAWYER (ASSOCIATE) LOCATION:  CALGARY, ALBERTA INDUSTRY:   LEGAL SERVICES

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Review and analyze clients' estate plans to identify issues and recommend solutions.

·       Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts & POAs, in collaboration with senior lawyers.

·       Support and collaborate with family law, business law, and litigation teams.

·       Conduct legal research to ensure accuracy and compliance in estate planning advice.

·       Assist clients with probate proceedings and estate/trust administration during difficult times.

·       Develop tax minimization and asset protection strategies with senior lawyers.

·       Maintain organized client files and ensure accuracy in documentation.

·       Represent clients in court, mediation, or arbitration as needed, working with senior lawyers when required.

REQUIREMENTS

·       Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta or eligible for admission via other Canadian Law Societies.

·       Strong commitment to personal growth, collaboration, and diplomacy.

·       Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.

·       Admission to the bar and good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.

·       Commitment to maintaining clients' trust and confidentiality.

·       2 to 4 years of post-call experience in estate planning, probate, or related areas, with some litigation experience preferred.

·       Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

·       Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a boutique law firm.

·       Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in legal work.

·       Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
