In early February 2024, a young driver in the GTA's life took an unexpected turn. In the video posted to social media by York Regional Police a vehicle is seen speeding through a 50km/h zone at a blistering 131 km/h!

The footage shows the driver claiming the vehicle belonged to his father and that he believed the speed-limit was 90km/h. Undeterred, the police officer advised that the infraction would cost him a 30-day license suspension and vehicle impound. As a last-ditch effort to salvage the situation, the driver mentioned he had just received his G license – 10 minutes prior and had a clean record! (LOL) Needless to say, the excuses didn’t work!

SUMMARY: Our client, a growing firm dedicated to prioritizing clients throughout the legal process, is seeking a Family Law Associate. The successful candidate will handle a variety of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and property disputes. POSITION:      FAMILY LAW LAWYER INDUSTRY:     LEGAL LOCATION:    EDMONTON, ALBERTA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Demonstrated success in handling complex family law cases.

·       Excellent legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

·       Highly motivated + focused with exceptional attention to detail, strong organization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

·       Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines with a sense of urgency and accuracy.

REQUIREMENTS:

·       Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Family Law.

·       Good-standing member of Law Society of Alberta (or a member of another Canadian Law Society and eligible for admission to the Law Society of Alberta).

·       Law degree from a recognized university, articled with a Family Law practitioner, and member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.

·       Engage in written and oral advocacy in court, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.

·       Self-motivated to aim for a work product that exceeds expectations.

·       Strong work ethic & interpersonal skills.

REMUNERATION:

SALARY: $130,000 – $150,000 ON-TARGET BONUS POTENTIAL: $50,000 (uncapped) ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $180,000 – $200,000 (uncapped) Bonus on billable dollar (50/50 compensation available for lawyers looking to raise earning potential)
